Enrichment Days – Limited Places

Fun, Exercise & Social Skills

A great introduction to the Cause & Effect way, Enrichment Days allow your dog to visit us for a day to learn, grow, relax and play. As an experienced trainer, I understand how essential it is for your dog to receive enrichment while having fun. Being left alone at home can often lead to boredom and your dog getting into things you might not be too happy about. While there is no structured obedience training, our enrichment guests spend time on activities to stimulate their mind, learn how to use their amazing nose, learn to interact and play appropriately with other dogs, get appropriate structured exercise, have fun in the day yard with other dogs and also learn to relax and be calm.

This is a very exclusive program for up to 4 dogs maximum on any given day. While you are busy, your dog is having a great experience.

Structured Training Days

Movement + Mind

A program where your dog comes to Cause & Effect for a number of days per week but does not board. This option includes everything offered in the enrichment day experience + an introduction to basic commands and obedience. This is a structured program at the Cause & Effect training facility that begins your dogs life long learning journey and is especially suited for owners with new puppies.

This option allows you to enjoy your puppy/dog at night and on weekends while still ensuring they are getting the structure and training they need while you focus on your commitments during the day. This program offers you as the owner regular lessons with me so you know exactly what your dog has learnt and how you can continue it. I’m committed to ensuring a strong bond between you and your dog – developing that language of respect, trust, understanding, and love.

You can select from 2 different options depending on your needs:

  1. Structured Training Intensive – designed for dogs and owners with no prior training experience. An intensive experience that runs for 3 days every week for 6 weeks.
  2. Structured Training Refresh- designed for current and past clients whose dogs need a little refreshing of the skills they have previously learnt or wish to extend their dog’s training.

Residence Board & Train Experience

Ultimate Immersion Program

Take the pressure and stress away from bringing home a new puppy or dog and let us do the hard work for you.

Your dog will live in my home with my dogs and myself, learning good general manners and rules of living with a family. They also learn how to socialise with well-balanced dogs so they gain a clear understanding of canine behaviour and communication, learn the foundation skills of training to get them off to a flying start, get regular outings to experience the finer things in life while being kept in a safe and secure environment.

This program is ideal for all puppies from 8 weeks, especially if you are time poor or unsure of how to start. The first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life are critical to his future development. It is also great for young dogs needing basic training or behaviour modification

Board and Train programs vary in time from a minimum of 4 weeks to a number of months depending on what level of training you are looking for and the temperament of your dog. You are welcome to visit and learn with them when appropriate.

Extensive face-to-face handovers are also provided for each owner and their puppy at the completion of the program. Email and phone support is also provided for 12 months.

1-on-1 Private Consults

Personalised, Focused

These sessions are perfect for the owner who would like one-on-one individualised assistance with their dog. This is a great option for everyone. From a dog with specific behavioural issues around the home and/or when out and about, puppy training, enrichment and management, general obedience, to dogs with mobility issues that need treatment sessions, or if you are just wanting a more personalise experience with us. Whether you have a puppy or an older dog, we can help at any stage of your dog’s life.

I conduct the majority of these consults at Cause & Effect as this allows your dog to be in an environment with well trained dogs as well as a range of distractions. However these consultations can be carried out in your own home where I can see your home environment, the dynamics of your family and how you live with your dog. This helps me identify any issues that can be contributing to your problems. I then help you put in place some basic foundations to start you on the road to enjoying life with a wonderful furry, family member.

Some of the problems we can help with are:

  • Toilet Training
  • Nuisance barking
  • Destructive behaviours
  • Resource guarding
  • Biting/Mouthing
  • Jumping up
  • Pulling on the lead
  • Over excitement
  • General/separation anxiety
  • Multi dog household management
  • Leash reactivity
  • Leash pulling

Puppy Training

“Start like you want to finish…”

Having a new puppy join the family is exciting. It can also cause some anxiety! Are you worried about how to handle the behaviours we all accept puppies do – chewing, jumping, biting, toilet accidents, barking? Puppies don’t grow out of these behaviours. Your dog is learning and forming habits, every minute of every day. What he does today, is what he believes he can do in the future

What if I told you, you didn’t have to go through these phases? Developing understanding and trust from the outset is crucial to your future relationship. It’s why I’m so passionate about working with puppies.

Starting early helps you:
Learn the skill of communicating with your dog
Develop mutual trust and respect that will affect every aspect of your life together
Feel confident in knowing you can handle any situation that arises with your dog
Prevent predictable behaviour problems
Remove embarrassment and overwhelm later!

In addition to Training Days, Board & Train Program  and 1-on-1 private  consults, we also offer Virtual Puppy Classes.

Virtual Puppy Classes

These classes still get great results, you get to connect with other puppy owners,  you can contact me with questions between lessons,  rewatch the lesson whenever you want, share videos of training, and support each other. Training your puppy is more important than ever before. Starting your puppy off on the right paw is so important for him to grow into a well-adjusted, calm, confident family member.

  • We will show how living with your puppy can be an enjoyable experience and not a stressful one.
  • We cover all the puppy basics, toileting, crating, problem behaviours, management in the home, and handling.
  • Expose your puppy to other puppies and dogs in a safe and calm manner.
  • Show you how important enrichment and problem-solving activities are for your puppy.
  • We show you how to start your training off successfully so you don’t have to carry around a pocket full of food forever.
  • How to play with your puppy to build trust and better relationships
  • Loose lead walking and basic commands

Therapy Dog Training

Dogs do more than just offer joy and companionship. Because they are so highly attuned to our behaviours and emotions, they can play an exceptional role in the wellbeing of our community.

A therapy dog is a dog that is trained to provide affection, comfort and support to people in settings such as hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, libraries, hospices, courts and disaster areas. These dogs are specifically trained so they can interact with all kinds of people,, not just their handler, and can work in a variety of environments. They can help reduce anxiety, depression and support memory.

Training a therapy dog is not just about the training. The temperament and experiences the dog has previously had also play a large part in whether the dog will be successful in his role. I have successfully trained a number of therapy dogs and I am passionate about educating people about how to do it and the enormous benefits that can be achieved.

I am proud to be working with ‘Hope for Our Children’, to develop companions that bring joy and comfort to children in the toughest times. They will help calm children who are giving evidence in court and also vulnerable children who have been removed from their home.

Muscle + Movement Work – Emmet Therapy & Canine Myofunction

Managing pain and supporting movement

I use gentle and effective techniques to relieve body imbalances, and muscular and/or injury discomfort. This can often play a critical role in your dog’s attitude and behaviour. I am an experienced Practitioner in Canine Myofunction and the Emmett Technique for people and animals.

The EMMETT Technique is a safe and simple muscle release therapy developed by Australian, Ross Emmett. I’ve had some amazing results with this therapy and have treated my current and past dogs who have suffered from structural issues and injuries.

I love learning, teaching and sharing anything to do with dogs.  You might like to receive an email from me from time to time.  My emails contain tips and ideas for developing that unspoken language of respect, trust and love between you and your dog,  as well as things that are inspiring me – quotes, books, podcasts, memes, people and more.  I will definitely not bombard you with information – if I have something that I think is worth it, I’ll send it out.
